Our part of town has heard God Bless Our Pope and Faith of Our Fathers, probably more times than they care to: the children have been belting out these (and others) on a regular basis. The narrow stone streets and open windows make for impressive acoustic amplification. As we're on a cultural fault-line between Arab and Gitane areas, you could consider our house a small outpost of the Church Militant. Gives a new meaning to "call to prayer". :-)

See you soon AExAnnie Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04406390389550024888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918352234512214855.post-15118899188774536152011-06-29T22:19:47.424+01:002011-06-29T22:19:47.424+01:00PS you missed 'God Bless our Pope,' tonigh...PS you missed 'God Bless our Pope,' tonight.

Bet you don't get that at your EF Mass! THey had netting over the tree to stop the birds getting them. You'll definitely be back for the plums though.

See you next week.leutgebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15566408268292424147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918352234512214855.post-36516067243169810002011-06-29T15:29:16.338+01:002011-06-29T15:29:16.338+01:00Not really, lavender country is more in the Proven...Not really, lavender country is more in the Provence/Drome direction, we're stuck with vineyards unfortunately. Of course I feel an obligation to sample the produits régionaux on a regular basis...

...I think we may have a cherry back in Kent: there are several yet unidentified "prunus" which could also be plum but I assumed that if cherries, they would be ornamental (even though all the other trees aren't). We'll be back next week -- will we have missed the cherry season? Cherries are almost finished here which is a great shame, although the cantaloupes are gorgeous. Now *that's* something I'd like to grow back home!Annie Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04406390389550024888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8918352234512214855.post-59151661350775395032011-06-27T17:45:53.982+01:002011-06-27T17:45:53.982+01:00I bet it is...

The heat here makes me miss my garden in Kent!
