Eyebrows

During the notices today, Fr Tim spoke about the First Holy Communions next Saturday.

I happened to glance into the Congregation and raise an eybrow in the direction of one of the three boys concerned. A bashful smile was returned. One week to go.

Before you all launch into, 'Looking round during Mass tut tut,'
I'd just like to say that where I sit is not my choice, I'm in the Choir.
By choice, I'd choose the back.
Grandma's Rules of Correct Conduct at Mass forbid commenting on other people's antics in Church and I extrapolate this to mean noticing what they are up to in the first place.
Let's face it I need to look at the floor these days.
I might slip or something.

Hi, I'm RAnn and I'd like to invite you to participate in Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. It is a meme and a replacement for the Catholic Carnival Jay at Living Catholicism ran for many years. It is a place for Catholic bloggers to direct others to their posts and to meet other Catholic bloggers. Some participants blog exclusively about Catholic things; others (like me) do so only occassionally. Both are welcome. To participate, go your blog and create a post titled "Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival". In it, summarize and link to at least on of your posts from the last week, which post should have a least a little to do with Catholicism (even if it is just showing off the cute Catholic kid). In your post, link to the master post which will generally be up by Saturday afternoon at http://rannthisthat.blogspot.com. Then, go to the master post and add your name to Mr. Linky. Visit the other blogs on the list and enjoy

If you'd like a weekly reminder to participate, subcribe to our yahoogroup at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sunday_snippets/?yguid=1269802

This week's master post is at http://rannthisthat.blogspot.com/2009/04/sunday-snippets-catholic-carnival_25.html

Had to laugh at this one. A few years back I happened to catch the eye of one of our older altar servers as Father was doing the reading about the apostles not having any luck and then Jesus telling them to throw the net over the other side and they came up with "153 fish." Not, "a great number of fish" etc. but that precise number. We both had to quickly look away, because we each knew what the other was thinking.

John, "hey, remember when Jesus to throw the net over the side and we caught all those fish?"

Other apostle: "yeah"

John: "How many did we catch that day, was it 153 or 147? I can't remember."

OA: "153, and two tires."

John: THANKS, I'll edit out the two tires.

The 153 fish was a deliberate choice - it was believed that there were 153 types of fish, so, by netting 153 fish, the writer symbolised that the disciples would catch the whole world in their nets...

Thanks Mac. That sort of thing does make sense! I'm still betting they managed to pull up an old boot and probably one of those knicknacks of a mermaid with a clock in her stomach.
