'Tis a good year for them.
On Sun, a friend offered me some from her garden.
Yesterday, Colin, allotment neighbour offered me some of his.
But, I have my own glut, thanks to Ruby next door.
Feeling like a snack? Pop out and pick a plum.
So this am, trying to keep my freeze or bottle something daily plan I picked a kilo and made jam. Looks like it's setting too. four jars, this time. Will have to see if Ruby would like a jar.

Why don't you try making powidła/powidl?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powidl
It is *absolutely* *delicious*, nothing quite compares to it. The wikipedia entry is right in saying that the plums should be very ripe - the drippy sticky wasp-eaten ones ought to be very good! If you are making a normal amount and not enough for a village, stirring is not so exhausting, if a little tedious.
Then bake some rye bread, cut a huge fat slice with a lot of butter and a lot of powidła ....
Jam is nothing on this stuff.
Oh. Polish wikipedia tells me it's known also as lekvar or prune butter: here's the English entry:

Thank you.
If I get fed up with ordinary jam, I'll branch out eastwards.
Something in the weather must be perfect for plums... I just went to visit my mother today and she was trying to get me to eat the plums from her plum tree...
...not my sort of thing. I told her I'd consider it when they became jam!
Big year for them.
You should try one. They're delicious straight off the tree.
You're taking orders?
Well giving away jars here and there. Plum and blackberry on offer at the moment.
My friend Maureen is coming tomorrow, bringing her Liber, which she has just taken down after many years, having sung with the nuns when she was at school.
I've tempted her with talk of free potatoes and jam....
