Watching paint dry

My Dad has very kindly painted my front door Buckingham green which is green in a jolly way without being Irish Tricolour green or Celtic green and not dark like British racing green green.

But I can't go nowhere til it dries - 16 hours it says on the can, but we think it will be a lot quicker and I'm not staying up til 4am before I can lock the front door. Oh no.

I'd love a bright green door. It would have to be round though, and with a gold knob in the middle...

If that is a Tolkein reference, I am afraid you will have to explain it for the non-specialist.

Yes it is a Tolkien referrence leutgeb. Hobbit holes have round doors with a knob in the middle. Bag End (where Bilbo lived) had a green door with a gold knob in the middle. It all looks very sweet and cosy to me! See Bag End here.
